Baptisms

Baptism is a profession of Christian faith and acceptance into the Church of England.

Adults and infants may be baptised. Infant baptism requires at least three godparents who have been baptised. It is not strictly necessary for the parents to live in Shocklach or Tilston Parish or be on one of the electoral rolls, although, if not, the Rector will consult the Minister of the other parish as a courtesy.

The baptism preferably takes place in a service of public worship so that the congregation may witness it and remember their own profession of faith. This may be the main service or a specially arranged baptism service.

Baptised adults or young people from the age of 11 may wish to become confirmed members of the Church of England.
